The College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech combines the wide-ranging intellectual exploration of the liberal arts with the civic engagement of a land grant institution and the technological advantages of a top 25 public research university. Recognizing that technology alone is never a solution and that innovation is a fundamentally human achievement, our programs prepare students to bring perspectives from the arts, humanities, and human and social sciences to understanding and achieving meaningful solutions to complex human problems.
An active, diverse, and vibrant contributor to the institutional whole, the college comprises a broad range of academic programs and centers, including 11 departments and two schools.
When it comes to community engagement and service, the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences conveys the university motto Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) with pride. Through its many centers, the college addresses issues concerning children and elders, families, education, technology, careers, housing, and culture.
