Sustainable Development in Nicaragua
Travel to Nicaragua with Green Empowerment (www.greenempowerment.org), an international nonprofit that works with rural communities in developing nations to improve living conditions with appropriate technology. Learn about the nation by visiting historic and cultural sites, hiking in a volcanic national park, swimming in a nature preserve, and staying with rural families. Observe and take part in community development projects involving alternative energy, water purification, and sustainable agriculture and forestry. Earn three hours academic credit for a 10-day field study and writing a proposal for future development projects for which Green Empowerment might seek funding.
