CLAHS  AWARDS AND HONORS GUIDELINES 2009-2010

The CLAHS Awards and Honors Committee invites nominations of faculty and graduate students for college and university recognition.  This document includes all the necessary information related to the listed CLAHS awards.  Web addresses are provided for other awards reviewed by the CLAHS Awards and Honors Committee.  Please note that there is no limit on the number of award nominations that can be forwarded to the committee.  We encourage all faculty to nominate themselves or colleagues, as well as staff and students when appropriate.

Excellence in Outreach Award (One of these awards is supported by the Office of the VP for Outreach and International Affairs.)

Outstanding Graduate Student Awards (One master’s and one doctoral student chosen by CLAHS Awards and Honors Committee; sponsored by the Graduate School)
                

Deadline for submission of one hard copy and one PDF of the complete nomination materials is January 6, 2010.  The nomination materials go to Monica Rich, 260 Wallace Hall, Mail Code = 0426. (Email: mrich14@vt.edu)

Award Sponsored by the University: Alumni Teaching Awards. Two awards, university-wide, are given each year.  Nominations come from those faculty who received the Certificate of Teaching Excellence awards in the past 3 years.  The College Awards and Honors Committee will automatically forward the materials of faculty who are receiving this year's (2009-2010) Certificate of Teaching Excellence Awards in CLAHS.  Faculty who have been CTE award winners in 2007-2008, 2008-2009 are encouraged to forward their materials (this will not be done by the Awards Committee) so that they also can be considered for the Alumni Teaching Awards.  For more information on this and other university-level faculty awards, see http://www.provost.vt.edu/faculty_awards.php .

Finally, everyone should mark this calendar item:  The CLAHS 2009-2010 Awards and Honors Reception is taking place on Tuesday, April 20, 2009, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Owens Banquet Hall.  Individuals receiving awards identified above will be formally recognized at this time.
